Service & Outreach

Parish advocates for persons with disabilities provide assistance to people with various needs, including church seating concerns and hearing assistance. Our parish advocates encourage persons with disabilities to participate in the ministries of the Church and also work to assure that facilities are accessible to all on the parish property.

Ministry Contact: The Catholic Charities volunteers organize the annual drive to collect funds within St. Leo the Great parish for the diocesan appeal through mailings and personal/professional contact. Catholic Charities serves the needs of people within the Diocese of Buffalo.

Ministry Contact: David Scott The Giving Tree ministry is part of the outreach ministry which is offered during the Advent season in preparation for the spirit of giving during Christmas. Members help fill tags for the tree, collect and distribute donated items for families in need during the season. This is an easy, single way of bringing joy at Christmas to families in need.

Ministry Contact: Sharon Bezak The Respect Life Ministry focuses on the value and dignity of life. Members promote educational resources for the parish on all life issues, and work in conjunction with other groups in the community to bring a message of hope and assistance to women with crisis pregnancies. The prime focus is peaceful opposition to abortion through legislative lobbying, commercial boycotts, educational outreach and prayer.  We also stress education on and opposition to other aspects of the Culture of Death; assisted suicide, embryonic stem cell research, human cloning and the death penalty. This ministry also offers e-mails on pro-life issues, including ‘action alerts’ on impending pro-life legislation in Congress and the State Legislature.

Ministry Contact: Lauren Migliore St. Vincent DePaul Society is an international Catholic organization of lay men and women who help to seek those in need in a spirit of justice and charity. The principle work of this ministry in our parish is to distribute food to needy families and assist families with clothing, furniture and appliances. There are three classes of membership: active, associate and contributing. Meetings are held on a monthly basis or as needed. Please leave food donations in receptacles in our church gathering space or parish office.
